Zutara Week '09: CrossoverThey had been flying for nearly seventy-two hours. Aang doubted whether Appa could withstand another night without food or sleep. The great Sky Bison had been losing altitude for the last two hours. They needed to find a place to spend the night, not only for Appas sake but for the rest of them as well. Katara, Momo, and Zuko had lain clustered around the saddle since midday, exhausted from not being able to do anything. Aang could barely keep his eyes open but he continued to scan the horizon in hopes of seeing something other than the slowly sinking sun, which was diluting the vast ocean into a liquid golden color. Lake StoriesLily kicked open the back door and wobbled out onto the small, grassy backyard. She was carrying a large laundry basket, which obscured most of her body from view not that it mattered, there was nobody outside. The curbing, cobbled street appeared oddly wide and vacant without the usual bands of children chasing each other up and down the street, or without neighbors hanging out in their yards sharing the days gossips. That evening, however, it seemed they had preferred to stay in the shade of their cool homes. Lily didnt blame them, it was stifling hot outside, she could feel sweat running down her back as she hoisted theLake Stories

Rock StarLily sat hunched on the thickest post of a misshapen fence, her bare feet dangling aimlessly back and forth as a warm breeze ruffled the hem of her nightgown. Lily shook her tangled, dark hair out of her eyes, smiling at the thought of soaring across the skies like some estranged bird. How liberating it would feel to spread her arms wide and glide atop cotton-shaped clouds until her heart burst with joy, to be weightless like a laced veil, to chase her shadow on the groundRock Star

By The PondKatara stepped out onto the empty courtyard, drawing a thin shawl tighter around her shoulders and glancing up at the crescent moon. A soft breeze was blowing gently, making fireflies dance low in the grass and trees whisper and groan. She strode across the stepping stones and over the arched, wooden bridge until she reached the shore of the small pond. Katara sat down, folding her legs to the side and dipped her hand in the cool water. She half-expected to see the turtle-ducks swimming frantically toward her, quaking loudly for some bread crumbs. But it was late and they were probably fast asleep inside their shells. The only movement on theBy The Pond
